When the top companies in the automotive industry are coming up with their luxury electric car models like Tesla Roadster, Lucid car, Tesla Model 3, Nissan leaf, future ford electric vehicles, faraday future car etc. an Indian startup has revealed its first-ever electric city car model.
Vayve Mobility a Pune-based startup for electric vehicles is planning to launch the first-ever solar powered electric car in India. They named the car Eva and it is likely to hit the market in the year 2024. This car will be equipped with solar panels of a capacity 150 watts, on the sunroof. The expected daily range to be obtained is around 12 Km, which will be around 3000 Km annually. The car will be packed with an electric battery of 14 Kwh capacity. The claimed range by the company on a single charge is about 250 Kms.

The CEO of the company Mr. Nilesh Bajaj says that on average the daily distance travelled by an Indian owner car is about 30 Km, and Eva’s ability to travel about 10 Km per day utilizing solar power makes it unique, as it is about 30 percent of total commute obtained by solar power. He also said that he can see a bright future for electric vehicles as a mode of commute in India. The initiatives taken by the government towards the establishment of electric vehicle charging stations is a right step for building the basic infrastructure for electric vehicles, also it will encourage electric vehicle dealership in the country.
As per the officials of the company, Eva is a smart EV, as a solution to problems like heavy traffic, narrow roads, and availability of very less parking space faced by Indian commuters. They say that it is an entrant in the segment of mini mobility. A deep study made by them before the design of the Eva revealed that the vehicle’s average occupancy is about 1.5 in India. The statistical analysis showed that the people are not travelling with the full capacity utilization of their car while travelling to office, or to drop their kids at school. Eva is designed to hit that area.
It is designed to be capable of carrying two adults and a child, with an agile design of narrow body with wide visibility. The manoeuvrability of the vehicle is easy and makes it easier to park. The car can go from 0-40 Kmph in just 5 seconds thus making the city ride real fun.
The battery provided comes with the advanced active liquid cooling. The battery is a 14Kwh LFP (Lithium Ferro Phosphate) battery which is a form of Lithium Ion Battery and makes it suitable for the Indian climate. The Eva will come with the following salient features.
