World’s Amazing Dragon Temple in Thailand

Whenever we tour to some new place to explore it, tourist guidebook is a medium to know about places to visit. But they should never be taken as bible for that place, because in every country or place there are venues, monuments which are not so popular among the visitors as a tourist place, yet are worth to visit and can prove to be a hidden gem.
The temple of Wat Samphran in Thailand is a classic example of it. This Temple is also known as The Dragon Temple among the locals. No guidebook for the tourists in Thailand provides any information about this temple. It is a 16 storey temple with a unique architecture in which it is being wrapped by a giant dragon, this architect will make your words automatically come out from your mouth saying Wooow! And will prove to be mindboggling experience. The Dragon Temple or Wat sampran Phutho-Phao-Wana is located at Sampran district in Nakorn Pathom province of Thailand.
This temple is stay place for Buddhist monks, the 80 meter height of it symbolises the age of lord Budhha, and 16 storeys as 16 types of heaven as per Buddhism mythology. The visitors are not allowed to visit all the storeys, only 2 floors are opened for visitors the basement and ground floor. The dragon is made all hollow from inside to go up to the top height, but is restricted as the stairs are not in very good conditions. The red colour of the temple is a symbol of fortune in Chinese culture & of sacrifice and unity in Thai religion.
Inside the temple different rituals are performed by the monks like, prayer of dragon and 12 zodiac, prayer to lord Waitin and a toss of coin in the dragon pit.
The ground floor of the temple has number of giant sculpture of various animals like dolphins, elephant, rabbit, turtle budhha hall, couples naga brigde  and many more. As per the the myth it is said there are hidden treasures upstairs and downstairs.
The dragon is a symbol of strength, courage and used by Chinese as symbol of emperor. The wrapping of building from 1 storey to 16 storeys symbolizes upliftment of spirituality from low to high by engraved preaching of 108 monks inside the hollow dragon, means to get nirvana in the heaven. The green coloured scales of dragon symbolises peacefulness. Tail and fins of it tells to move towards right direction in composed and graceful manner. Legs and fingers symbolises moving towards the greatness with firmness without falling.
The largest Budhha statue is located on the 4th floor of the temple and is known as Luang Phor Phutho-Phao-Wana, this floor has a vegetarian hall. The statue is all casted by brass. Under Lord Buddha’s statue pilgrims do walking around for prayers and also go for donation. There are number of paintings on the walls with amazing colour combinations, and carved angels.
