Made in India Flying Car: The Future of Commuting is Urban Air Mobility

A startup from IIT Madras has developed a prototype of a flying taxi. This flying car is claimed to be capable to travel up to 200 Km on a single charge. The payload capacity of it is 50 Kilograms per trip.

The startuper are coming up with the ingenious design of technological marvels. An Indian startup entrepreneur unit has developed a prototype of flying car. This startup company which is incubated at IIT Madras is really bringing a lot of attention towards their prototype design. The flying car developed by them is known as e200. The startup company of eplane development was started in 2017. They showed their eplane or flying taxi which is powered by electric power at Aero India show in Bengaluru. This electric flying car is vertical take-off and landing model. The company claims that their prototype developed for flying car can travel 10 times faster when compared with the market available cars. The startup company also claims that their flying taxi ride per passenger will cost around two times higher than Uber taxi service for the same distance. The officials can see a potential for their eplane startup to become a future Uber air taxi company.

The eplane requires only about twenty-five square meters of area for parking. Its weight is about 200 Kgs. The eplane  has four ducted fans used as its propellers. The sitting capacity is of two persons at single ride. The cruise speed of it is between 150 to 200 kilometres per hour. The cruising altitude maximum value is 1500 feet. The flying taxi does not have a swappable power battery. The details about the size, specification and electric battery charging of the flying car have not yet been revealed by the company.

The startup claims they are providing an air mobility solution in the form of roof-top to roof-top mobility taxis in the city. This ePlane startup has raised funding of around one million US dollars for the development of this flying car. The developer is willing to offer it as an autonomous vehicle as a part of their self-driving car or automated car programme.

Price not Declared Yet

The beautiful and impressive design has made this ePlane already viral. The startup is hoping to provide a reliable solution to urban hustle and bustle in the form of these flying autonomous cars. These upcoming cars are expected to be launched by 2024. The company has not revealed the expected price of this flying taxi.
