These CLCs have properties that enable the necessary interaction with light as it passes through them. The coating, made of various layers of CLCS, covers all the light entering the window. Then, the coating selectively captures one wavelength of light to convert it into energy. The rest of the light passes through normally, keeping windows bright, clear, and visually appealing. In this way, the window remains transparent. According to scientists, we can create a system using cholesteric liquid crystal films that captures sunlight striking a window, concentrates it within a glass waveguide, and allows other wavelengths of light to pass through. Green laser light: The human eye is most sensitive to green light. Testing with green laser light showed an energy-to-electricity conversion efficiency of 38.1%, which was promising for this technology. However, when tested under normal conditions, this efficiency dropped to 18.1%.
